What is CRISCEB

CRISCEB - the Interdepartmental Research Center of Computational and Biotechnological Sciences of the Second University of Naples - started in 1995 by researchers from different science backgrounds (Medicine, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics) with the aim to promote and develop computational applications in Biomedical Sciences.

The centre is equipped with a computer section, supervised by Prof. Giovanni Colonna, Head of CRISCEB, specifically devoted to protein and nucleic acid studies.

Graphic workstations: (SGI Indigo2 R10000/R4000, Indy), Unix workstations (IBM RISC 6000) and a four-processor server (SGI Origin 2000).

Commercial packages (Insight II by Biosym, Quanta by MSI ...) as well as academic releases of software are used for structure predictions and functional studies. Moreover, CRISCEB develops its own software packages in the field of structure prediction of proteins, thermo-stability of proteins, analysis of nucleic acid sequences.

Several joint investigations are in progress or under development with researchers from different european countries.
