PROSCAN

by Angelo Facchiano

PROSCAN is a tool to search protein sequence databases, extract the sequence of your interest and perform composition analysis and/or pattern searching. You can also analyze any new sequence by typing it in the grey box.

You can find here information about the available databases, and here instructions for the definition of patterns to be searched.

Type here the Accession Number:
Example: 16PK (select NRL3D), or
S36011 (select PIR), or P19084 (select SwissProt),
or 1433_SPIOL (select OWL), or Q48305 (select TREMBL)

OR
type the sequence to analyze:

If you want to highlight a pattern, type it here:

N.B.: you can define patterns similarly to PERL regular expressions. For example, the pattern G[GR]K finds both the sequences GGK and GRK; the pattern G.K identifies any segment with G and K spaced by any amino acid (just one); the pattern G[^G]K identifies the sequence G, any amino acid except G, K; the pattern GK.*GK identifies segments consisting of two GK spaced by an undefined number of amino acids.
